Your school’s policy wins

Grade points, weighting bumps, pass marks and A+ caps are conventions, not law. The scales on this site reflect commonly published US conventions — standard +/− (A = 4.0, A− = 3.7), uncapped A+ = 4.3, flat letters, and the honors +0.5 / AP +1.0 weighting — but your school or district defines the scale that actually goes on your transcript, including rounding rules, which courses may be weighted, and how pass/fail is treated. When this site’s output and your official policy disagree, the policy wins. Verify conventions against your student handbook or school profile before relying on a computed number.

Planning math, not academic advice

The GPA arithmetic is reliable within the limits of what you type in. But decisions it might inform — whether to drop a course, switch to pass/fail, retake a class for grade replacement, or how a specific college will recalculate your record — involve policies this site can’t know. Nothing here is academic, admissions, or professional advice; for decisions that go on a transcript, confirm with your counselor or registrar.

Accuracy

We check every calculator against published conventions and state the rules applied next to the controls (scale label, weighting, excluded marks all shown on screen). Even so, we make no warranty that the site is error-free or uninterrupted. For official GPA figures — transcripts, scholarship eligibility, athletic eligibility — your institution’s registrar calculation is the authority.

Advertising

The site may display third-party advertising (for example Google AdSense) to cover hosting costs. Advertisers don’t influence the scales or the math — an ad is a rectangle on the page, not an editorial voice.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GPACalc and its maintainers are not liable for losses arising from use of this site or reliance on its results — including academic or admissions outcomes. When the number matters, the school profile and the registrar are the authorities.
